Toilet Soaps were the most advertised category on TV in June-July 2020: TAM

The TAM report indicates that WhatsApp was the prominent new brand that started advertising on TV in June-July 2020, wasn’t present in the April-May period.

TAM AdEx-Television Advertising Report VII – Part A looks at the overall Television Advertising during June-July 2020. Highlights include TV Ad Volumes during the last 6 weeks showing a stable trend and Average Ad Volumes/Day in July 2020 (till July 18) growing by 5% compared to June 2020.

The Personal Care/Personal Hygiene sector dominated the TV Ad Volumes share (22%), followed by F&B (19%) in the June-July (till July 18) 2020 period. They were followed by Services (12%), Hair Care (8%) and Personal Healthcare (8%).

Among the product categories, Toilet Soaps topped the list (8%), followed by Shampoos (5%), Tooth Pastes (4%), Milk Beverages (4%) and Washing Powders/Liquids (4%).

The report also indicates that over 2100 advertisers and more than 3400 brands were visible across 350+ categories on TV. In the same period, over 900 new advertisers and 1400+ new brands were seen on TV in June-July (Till July 18) 2020 over April-May 2020.
