Sony’s journey in India began way back in the 1990s when the broadcast industry here was in its infancy. Over the last two decades, they have successfully created a network of 24 channels, an OTT platform, a film production arm and a content creation studio. In a gratitude letter, NP Singh, MD & CEO, SPN says it’s been an eventful journey of 25 years and they will continue to strive and live up to their corporate ethos of ‘Go-Beyond’, not just in name but in action and spirit.
“Thinking back, the strategy from the start has not only revolved around running a successful business but also creating impact for all stakeholders coupled with the intent of building a brand known for innovative content,” he writes.

Singh talks about the success of IPL and how it was a bold bet that paid off. He says, “This was uncharted territory in 2007 when cricket leagues were unheard of. We invested in it when there were hardly any believers and moulded it into one of the most valuable sports entertainment properties in the country.”
An organisation is only as good as its people, Singh asserts. Pondering on it, he writes, “It is a matter of pride that we have cultivated an empowering workplace culture, standing tall on the tenets of consumer eccentricity, innovation, collaboration and diversity.”
He signs off thanking media partners and supporters for being a guiding ally in the journey so far. “You have had an important role to play in the success of SPN and I fold my hands in gratitude,” he concludes.
