Court sends notice to Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly for promoting fantasy league apps

by admin

The Indian Cricket team skipper Virat Kohli and veteran cricketer Sourav Ganguly have been asked to submit their response to the notice by November 19 issued by the Madras High Court after a case was filed against them for endorsing fantasy leagues online applications.

Advocate Mohammed Rizvi reached out to the court after a youth died by suicide in the state after losing money in such apps.

Reportedly, a bench consisting of Justices N Kirubakaran and B Pugalendhi issued the notices to even actors Prakash Raj, Tammana, Rana Daggubati, and Sudip Khan as well as other such apps.

Media quoted the bench saying, “The apps are in the name of IPL teams such as Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and some apps are also in the name of state’s names. Are these teams playing on behalf of the state?”

It also accused the owners of these apps of using celebrities for the sake of earning crores.
